The most famous country music stage in the world is headed to Times Square. The Grand Ole Opry is opening its first "home away from home," the Opry City Stage in New York City. The four-level entertainment venue is set for an April 2017 opening on Broadway.
“For 91 years the Grand Ole Opry has connected country music fans with their favorite artists through live performances, radio and more recently, digital technology,” said Colin Reed, chairman and CEO of Ryman Hospitality Properties, in a statement. “Opry City Stage is all about taking the diverse sounds that originate in Nashville to other markets so that fans have another way to discover new artists and connect with the music they love. We believe that once our Opry City Stage guests get a taste for all the Grand Ole Opry and Nashville have to offer, they are going to want to visit Music City and experience it for themselves.”
Each of the floors have been designed with Nashville in mind, featuring a world-class listening room with curated performances by the Bluebird Cafe, a retail space that will have some of Music City's favorite brands available, and a huge restaurant/bar space that will also have simulcasts of Grand Ole Opry performances happening in Nashville.
NYC, start dusting off your cowboy boots, because country is coming to town!
