Sarah Simmons got the attention of all four judges with her audition on the singing competition The Voice, and now the world is anxiously awaiting her newest record entitled Freedom, due out this August. Sarah takes a few minutes out of her busy schedule to do a Q&A with MusicCityNotes.
In 2013, you gained a huge following from your consistent incredible performances on "The Voice." How has your life changed since the show?
I am so grateful for my loyal fans, they inspire as well. My life has changed because of the hard work put in before the show, during and after. So many doors opened after the show and it's just figuring out which door you'll walk through.
What is the inspiration behind your new record?
The inspiration behind my record is about truly allowing yourself to be free and completely yourself without a care in the world of another's opinion, completely free of people, places and things that aren't good for your life . Freedom ;).
Do you have a favorite song on it, or a song that feels most personal?
"Staring At The Sun" is my most personal one I wrote on the album. It is in memory of one of my best friends, Sean Reader.
What's something your fans would be surprised to know about you?
Surprised to know about me ... Hmmm :)! I can make a saxophone noise through my teeth! Haha!
If you were to make a Summer Playlist with 5 songs on it right now, what would they be?
1. "I Took A Pill On Ibiza" - Mike Posner
2. "Winter Bird" - Aurora
3. Not usually a JB listener but LOVE his whole record - Justin Bieber
4. "One Day" - Matisyahu - always a good one
5. "Fearless" by Pink Floyd
